Indigenous philosophies of Teaching Symposium

Indigenous and Diasporic approaches to education have survived the disruptions caused by colonization and enslavement. Now is the time to gather our traditions and determine how to best use them to nurture the coming generations of indigenous people and the current generation of teachers serving Indigenous communities.

Join us for a day-long discussion on the past, present, and future of Indigenous philosophies of teaching.

Building Hope, Connecting Cultures: Fundraiser Photo Exhibition

Join us to celebrate the work that the Sierra Leone Foundation for New Democracy (SLFND) has already achieved and help us propel its work for the future. Enjoy beautiful photographs and delicious food while helping SLFND continue to live out its mission of connecting, growing and healing together.

This December, five University of Minnesota-Twin Cities students will be traveling to Mondema, Sierra Leone to learn, grow and build community. In addition to program costs, we need help financing the following projects that we will work on while in Sierra Leone: a canning project to preserve food, seed mapping and a construction of a seed bank, planting of indigenous trees, tiling of the school floor, among other important projects.

The funds raised at this event will have a direct impact on the people of Mondema. Together we can build stronger, more resilient communities and use our combined skills to empower and learn from one another.

I am, because you are. We are all connected and interdependent on one another. We hope you can join us and support us as we work to grow together.
